With the huge surge in DIY bedroom indie over the last few years and the emergence of MySpace as a means of distributing it, a new frontier has emerged for musos the world over. All you need these days to create a veritable percussive masterpiece is a mic, a computer, a chopstick, and a few half empty bottles of beer. Our homegrown scene is blossoming. Tom&Duds has already sung the praises of The Motifs (a tale of one girl and her computer), who's a shining star for this form.

Big Cats is a fusion of grass roots indie, technology, and a crazy idea. Armed with a guitar and a drum machine, one man called Robert has under 2 hours to write a tune, record it, and whip it up on MySpace. Understandably the sound is a little frenetic, but somehow it stacks up. Have a listen and if you like, bookmark his MySpace. He knocks out a tune pretty much every week.
