Debbie does Sydney

Sydney, Australia
Despite the 1990's best efforts to shun the 80's with its fancy bangles, leg tight jeans and rude bird's nests for hair it seems that the 00's or whatever we call it (what do we call it?) is trying its very hardest to bring it all back.

One thing I've noticed in the "scene" is that the "scene" is changing. Yes the "scene" is in a period of transition completely lost in limbo between electronica and rock. This is similar to the 80's, however it was rock on the out and electronica on the in. Nevertheless it confuses me. Like just the other day at the hairdressers - do I keep it long as a mullet or do I cut it short? I'm lost and judging by everyone else I see in the "scene" they're lost too... at least I'm not wearing makeup - not yet anyway.

If anyone was to ask me what the sound of the "scene" is at the moment, I'd point them to Debbie... it's a band. Chuckwagon the great got me onto these guys and the first time I heard them I was like 'Holy shit, let's sign them'. Then I woke up and realised we're not a record label. Anyway since hearing them last night, they've been replayed over and over on my pod. What is it? Keeping with the sound of our day, it's electronic rock and it's some of the best I've heard in Australia for some time. Kick arse synths, thumping dance beats, a wicked bass line and incredible sexy female vocals - these kids are going further than Laika the dog*. Anyway cop a listen and get your groove, thing, shit or whatever it is on and enjoy this on a Friday... yeeuw!
