Hot Little Hands

Melbourne, Australia

My Ipod pulled a Lazarus a while back, after spending the better part of a week frowning at me. Whatever supernatural force brought it back, also had the thoughtfulness to add some new music. Notably, Hot Little Hands.
No points for guessing which city these guys (and girl) come from.

Thats right! No points for you! Because you already know. It's written at the top of the blog. Anyway if you didn't see that, all it would take is a quick listen to a few of their songs. That's the point I'm attempting to convey here. Why? Cause the originality and eclecticism is immediately apparent in their music. Makes it a real bitch to describe them though.

They throw in a steady beat, heavy bass, punctuated lead guitar, keys, and improv brass. Not afraid to experiment with sounds but edging more toward sparse than on the side of garish, every instrument meshes seamlessly. Combine that with killer key changes, multi layered harmonies, and vocals which swing between wistful and seductive depending on the tune. Whatever, just listen.

It's nice to see a band not seem like they're trying too hard and in doing so, get it right on the money.

They've just thrown some new tracks up on their MySpace. Listen to them, or i will smoke your last cigarette.

Ok I'm back for seconds.

I was just listening to Dynamite in Black... can anyone please tell me what song it sounds similar too. It's killing me. So familiar and it's definitely from the 80's. What the hell is it? Arrghh

I'm not sure Grettel.

It is familiar though. I'm thinking a combination of Lennon and Jagger (maybe they had kids together). The beat is like Lennon's Instant Karma and the voice is Jagger. hmmmmmm. Awesome song though
