Lelu, TV and a little white rabbit

When I got back from overseas a couple of months back my girlfriend gave me an EP which she found (and for the life of her can't remember where it came from). On the cover said Lelu. Excited as I always get when I'm about to listen to something new I opened the case expecting to find the disc... no disc. Oh well, I was grateful for the thought (you have to be don't you? - unless it's Shannon Noll. That signals that she wants to break up with you.. it happened to me). But driving home in her car today I was rummaging around her CD's trying to find something good to put on. Reaching deep into the abyss that is the underside of a car seat I felt a CD. Treasure! I hope it's no fools gold. It wasn't, it was Lelu, albeit a badly scratched Lelu. Anyway I gave it go. Heavy basslines greeted my ears.. hmm not bad, sounds a bit like the Editors or Interpol. As the music played I found myself warming to the tunes to the point that I started to worry whether the scratched disc would make it through the entire EP. It did. The songs fast, catchy and all backed up by an incredible voice - at times similar to Matt Bellamy of Muse fame and at others similar to Tom Smith from Editors... makes for an intersting voice. Have a listen to these little ditties from their self-titled EP and see what you think.

And I'm probably going to be the last blogger in the world to write about TV On The Radio but I feel I have to - they're just too damn good. Return To Cookie Mountain has been played over and over again on my stereo this week leaving me feel a tinge of regret for missing them at Splendour - I'm not sure how I did considering all their hype but I suspect it had something to do with that damn white rabbit at Tipi Village - I'll catch you one day you little bastard hare...
