Thursday 28th - The Sandwich Makers
So without further ado... introducing our Sandwich Makers for this Thursday...
Beginning our night we have a special debut... Jai Pyne from The Paper Scissors ripping it up solo in his bedroom project Pork Pies, with more grooves than a Chinese Phonebook. A confession from Jai: "Pork Pies is a break, a way of being more personal, just pure self indulgence, being able to oversing, overplay and make shit up as I go" Expect a bit of soul. Expect a bit of the blues. Expect a bit of funk, but most of all, expect a rollicking good show from one of Sydney's finest frontmen (we hear there'll be a ukelele involved).
Following on we have Souls On Board who've shipped up from Melbourne for their first Sydney show this year. Switching between dark ethereal psychedelia, and furious rock out. This is an set not to be missed. If their EP is anything to go by, expect a rollicking rollercoaster of emotion as Stuey our US correspondent aptly put it:
Their whole EP is a combo journey in itself. "Apple Grapple" is a short intro to whats about to overpower you. It lulls you into a false sense of security... raindrops, winter, open fire and mist all fall into your mind before you want to start jiving and spinning tribal style whilst injesting some of Barney Gumble's "pixie juice" to the track "How to Make A Fire". Once you collapse in a heap and the condensation is dripping of the windows, like after a good session in the sack in the height of a Sydney winter, you fall onto your back, hands above your head and enjoy the dreamlike state that "Hand" puts you in. Marvellous I say. As a group S.O.B have a glutton of potential.

They're one of Sydney's most exciting up and coming bands, gaining national airplay & interviews on Triple J, appearances on JTV, and support slots for Pony Up! and Phil Jamison's Lost Gospel. A fair punt from a band that is yet to make a release. Think Dallas Crane vox infused with Interpol - a powerful combination that will have you shouting for seconds.

For dessert we have our newest resident DJ Banshee. No stranger on the Sydney scene, Banshee will be sprinkling some indie anthems that will put your dirty sneakers in their rightful place - on the DF. Also watch out for the mysterious DJ BLT popping up throughout the night. We're not too sure what to expect - their onstage antics have been described as 'frightfully indecent' and 'an embarassment to DJ's alike'. We're just glad to have them on board...
And for all you loyal Sandwich Club Patrons, we have a few more FREE DOUBLE PASSES left, so email us at lunchbox@sandwichclub.fm or msg us on myspace (subject heading: FEED ME!).
yum.
Labels: Pork Pies, Souls On Board, The Paper Scissors, Vespers
