Simian Is Your Friend

London, England
Another music awards ceremony, another farce; this time Kanye doing the rounds by crashing the stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards after losing Best Video to Justice Vs Simian for club anthem 'We Are Your Friends'. Seriously, how much longer can hip hop fuckwits get away with this shit?
Something that is cool, Simian. And unless you've been hiding in a hole for the past 3 months, the 'We Are Your Friends' remix should be firmly implanted in your brain forever (I have fond memories of my flat mate running around at Splendour like a man possessed, screaming this song to everyone he saw and proclaiming it was the best song in the world. He was easily excitable that day). But the band, before Justice got a hold of it, was little well known outside of the UK. Their second album, We Are Your Friends, is one of my all time faves with some highly addictive little pop songs such as 'La Breeze' and 'Never Be Alone' - the song Justice remixed then renamed 'We Are Your Friends'. It's unfortunate the band broke up last year. One can't help but think what could have been with their sudden rise in popularity.

Here's the vid that won them the award and a couple of awesome tracks from We Are Your Friends

Also I just saw this video of The Vines recorded back in 2003 on UK show Jools Holland. Awesome performance that gets looser and looser. Watch the whole thing and you'll know what I mean. I am now of the opinion that The Vines are Australia's best music export - They should get ARIA awards every year, forever.
Rock. On.

simian are very good and so is that track, but when they tacked 'mobile disco' to the end of their name things became quite exciting indeed

Ive always been of the opinion that Kanye was this untouchable jesus type character... but deadset I think he played this one all wrong.

Plus he got beaten by such a random yet well produced video... Kanye might have better songs, but he aint made anything good enuf to beat what i just saw.

Lovin La Breeze too, im currently measuring how big the rock i was under was.
