Faith In Plastics

Perth Australia

OK, so I'm still totally hung up on the UnEarthed website. It's so EASY! It's not a horrid messy labyrinth of incestuous friendage and streaming music descending upon your bandwidth like a thick black cloud of slowness... like some networking websites I know. (Tom is NOT my friend this week...) Plus it's all Aussie, which makes my job a dang heck of a lot easier when scouring this crazy interweb for tasty local tunes. On this particular occasion I am encroaching on the area usually covered by our own Stuey - that great western deli known as Perth and surrounds.

Remember when Rough Diamonds came out and everyone was like, "fuck yeah"! That's a great song! And then Too Careful followed and we were all, "huzzah! This is also a great song"! And then O Yeah came out and the raw Ted-Leo-in-a-good-mood stuff from the EPs got trodden all over with that Teflon album production and all those chicks who'd invaded every Evermore gig started going to End Of Fashion gigs to scream at Justin instead?!? Stupid shortshort-clad teeny... Ahem.
Anyway, Faith In Plastics give me the same squee-ish feelings I had when I first fell in love with EoF's early stuff. Back when it was a little dorky-sexy, like that guy from uni you don't realise you have the hots for until he throws something at you across the table and then pretends it wasn't him, and suddenly it's all cute and you're fifteen again.
This is another of my funny-feeling-in-my-tummy bands. They've already supported The Panics, Eskimo Joe, Bob Evans, Josh Pyke and New Rules For Boats and scored a WAM nod for Song of the Year, so expect to hear more.
In the meantime, enjoy their sunny, crinkly, clever pop yumminess.
