Mr Wednesday

Adelaide, South Australia
This last year I started wearing shirts and pants, getting up at 7, and spending the day dicking around on a computer for coin. Until now, I always assumed 'hump day' was a reference to the one day a week that old, married people had sex. Not anymore! Wednesday has suddenly taken on meaning. Too early in the week for rejoicing, too late for bouts of depression... Monday is a day for contemplation, and Mr Wednesday provides the perfect soundtrack.

Mr Wednesday are a 5 piece with another 4 satellite members, who hail from Adelaide. I would best describe them as some kind of industrial shoe-gaze. Steeped in ethereal sounds, haunting strings and melancholy piano, this music has the capacity to both dishearten any young blood contemplating a step into the working life, but also fortify the morale of any long-term suit. They released their debut album The Garden Where Parties Grow almost exactly a year ago, and if you're going to Peats Ridge Festival over new years you can catch a listen there.

Mr Wednesday is here to save you from the perturbing inevitability of the nine to five working life. But don't sweat it kids. Tomorrow is the last working Friday of the year, so take off your pants and enjoy the holidays. Your job will still be there when you come back...

I must say the lead singer for Mr. Wednesday has an amazing voice. I can't say my voice even comes close to his, but since you've been so kind as to share a song with me, I'll share a couple of originals with you and your visitors:

Spot on interpretation of the ideas driving the album. It is good to read something concisely insightful.
