I had been waiting, salivating, checking my watch and tapping my feet for days on end as Melbourne's kings of energy, furious sounds and fits, Group Seizure said that their new album Hybrid Vigour was being released and would soon find its way into our lunchbox. As I had my first listen to the opening track "The Drink is Drunk" lobes were tingling and the feeling of satisfaction arrived. It was indicative of Group Seizure's trademark '10-Red-Bull-high' approach to music and simply a taste of what awaited me throughout the 9 remaining tracks. Distorted guitar walls close in on you from all sides as an earthquake of electro drum kit beats fall away from underneath you whilst vocals howl and scratch. If you were to liquify this album and bottle it, 'Red Bull' and 'V' would seem like Spring Valley. In fact I call dibs on doing so and calling the drink "Mental". Either you will thrash out to this album or cower in a corner praying to the gods of volume and gain to stop. I chose to thrash.
