Muscleman

Melbourne, Australia
Muscles is old news. He played in December with Girl Talk and in January with Hot Chip, and he's supporting Jenny Wilson's Factory gig next week. He's been all over national and international blogs. And he had that awesome song about the Mel-bourne-in-de-pend-ant-mus-ic-com-munity that probably couldn't have been played more on FBI.
Still, after last night I figured he deserved a bit more love just for making me dance to music that, in any setting other than Spectrum, would have been accompanied by a rainbow of glowsticks and Chuppa Chups. I don't know what it is about him - the cheeky grin, the twee lyrics, the a-tonal vocals - but Muscles manages to take all the hype of the Klaxons-inspired "Holy-Crap-It's-A-Rave-o-Lution!", wrap it up in fairy lights and make it dance.
It was one of the cheesiest things I've seen in a very long time, and the crowd ate it up like icecream. Cheesy icecream. Now there's a taste to savour.

he just needs to avoid championing phrases like "mega-cringe" or he is going to end up in the trash like everyone who used to sport phrases like "choice" and "rufus"
