Ned Collette

Melbourne, Australia
Most of the time covers annoy me. Perfectly capable (and commonly incapable) artists ripping off material to better their public profile doesn't taste too good to me. Aggressive attitude it may seem. But I have found an exception. One of the most unlikely covers to capture my attention is "Hours" by Ned Collette. A lucid, red wine spin on the already tasty track by TV On The Radio which they recorded in collaboration with Blonde Redhead. My justification for not 'pigeon-holing' this sterling effort in with the other 80% of profile boosting stunts is the fact that this widely travelled 'Melbournite' places a dark, folky feel into this synonymously jived up song. We can expect to hear more mysteriously sombre music from Ned too, a follow up album to "Jokes and Trials" (July 2006) is expected very soon through Dot Dash Recordings and Remote Control Records. If this track is anything to go by, I wait clanging my knife and fork in anticipation. Check him out on these dates:
