ROCK GODS

Australia and New Zealand
We've been following this for quite some time, the MTV Kickstart Competition. Now it's your time to vote. State vs state, mate vs mate etc... whatever

NSW Finalist - Walrus
Played at the January Sandwich Club. Kickarse blues-infused garage rock that has nothing to do with The Beatles. My favourite of the bunch.

MP3: Walrus - War!

Victoria Finalist - Dance With Voices
Also played at a Sandwich Club night. Electro rock that is incredibly popular in the indie scene at the moment. I once heard them play I cover of Daft Punk's Around The World - I've been sold on them ever since.

MP3: Dance With Voices - RE: Model

Queensland Finalist - Yves Klein Blue
Libertines inspired pop rock. Admittedly I know nothing about this band but I've just listened to all their tunes over myspace and I absolutely love them.. I want more! Bring back Brit Pop!

MP3: Yves Klein Blue -Polka

Western Australia Finalist - The Avenues
They cite influences from Spoon, The Beatles, Radiohead and Muse. Enough said.

MP3: The Avenues - Sleep Till Dawn
myspace - vote

South Australia Finalist - Special Patrol
Experimental pop from Adelaide with similarities to Super Furry Animals and Beck. Chuckwagon has not stopped talking about them since he heard their new release Handy Hints From The Undertaker.

MP3: Special Patrol - Same Blood
myspace - vote

New Zealand Finalist - Dukes
Jumpy rockabilly from Christchurch. Lots of bass and drums wrapped up into a pop rock sound. New Zealand will put up a fight.

MP3: Dukes - Always Forever

Yves Klein Blue are seriously dangerous for Brisbane venues. Attending a concert can lead to spending an hour crushed against the sweaty chests of other like-minded beings. They are THAT good. Ric's recorded a record crowd a few Wednesdays ago when they played. Seriously hot property right now. Ole!

It's going to be a tough one...

Walrus are one of my favourite sydney bands so I'm definitely leaning towards them. Yves Klein Blue, however, sound pretty darn good and after writing that post I looked around and it seems half of Brisbane is behind them. Let's not forget the other guys... Dance With Voices are awesome, Special Patrol. All the bands are worthy

I'd lean towards either The Avenues or Walrus. The Avenues have been around longer, I must say :)
