Anyway I've just been sitting here listening to the wireless when the new single from Sydney outfit The Winters came on. 'How fitting' I thought while feeling like a dejected Russian at the end of the Cold War. But as the song played on it began to warm me, ok not literally - I was still frickin freezing, but at least it made me smile on this average Tuesday (damn mid-week blues. Wednesdays should be holidays - Please Johnny, we promise we'll get more work done). A Beatelesque tune with nice rolling guitars and fantastic vocals to back it up (listen to the vocals on some other tracks - excellent). The song also features a 'la da di da da dum' to sing along to when you feel like a bit of karaoke in the car (we all do it occasionally).
Enjoy this on a cold winters day (or a hot summers day - so jealous of all you people in the northern hemisphere right now, I hope it's raining).
The new single:
The Winters - Layer Cake
And a couple of other tracks from their MySpace site.
The Winters - Over My Head
The Winters - Keef
Oh and The Dears are returning to Sydney soon. Playing at Rebel Rebel (Home Nightclub) Saturday June 10th. Bou yow!
Labels: Sydney, The Winters
