Well my room mate's hearing is rooted. Too many live gigs and not enough ear muffs. Our t.v has a knack of emitting this high pitched beeping (about 100 octaves above Zed's voice in Police Academy 2&3). Seeing as he couldn't hear it and I couldn't handle it, I moved into my room and started hunting around Sandwich Club's favourite deli, the internet, to bring you folks some cool new toons you can scuff up your kitchen floor with. Then I remembered that the other day I befriended "Poly and the Statics" on myspace. It was kinda fitting the mood I was in, considering that our t.v may as well be emitting static, so I ran with it and had a look/listen. Anyways from what I have read these guys are working their musical bones to dust of late, playing a whole series of gigs supporting some of Sandwich Club's favorite outfits such as The Presets, Riff Random, Dappled Cities Fly, Starky, Dead Frenchmen, Wolf&Cub and The Boat People to name a few. This is no wonder as I was impressed by their crazy drum beats and baselines, with a pacey guitar and the ever trusty synthesizer. Put this all together and you get tracks like "Chainsaw" and "Symphony" that I find hard to classify or compare to anything else I have heard, which is gangbusters! (thanks Marc). So just shut up turn the t.v off and dance to this. It's a gooood sandwich.
Also just a quick reminder to all those Sydneysiders craving a night of exposure to some top Aussie musical talent, beverages and peeps, make your way along to Candy's Apartment on Thursday June 29 (get the info to the right) or you could just fricken sign up to our email list and get all the info delivered to your inbox. How cool is that!
