Darren Hanlon - Fingertips & Mountaintops
If I had to consider Australia's answer to Jens Lekman, the first and most obvious choice that would pop to mind is Darren Hanlon. He's Australias quintessential indie kid. Scratch that. He's an indie... man. He makes sweet sweet love to acoustic guitars (like Jens!) and tells charming stories (like Jens!) but with a true-blue bloody ripper of an Aussie accent.
After 5 years of touring extensively around Australia and the US playing cafes, community halls and a heap of little grass roots venues, he's just released his third album "Fingertips and Mountaintops", and looking at the tour dates on his myspace, he's set to do it all again... Honestly, where the fuck is Urulla?

Darren is an incredibly gifted singer/writer. He is one of those artists that has the potential to cross both boundaries - commercial and indie

Sadly I haven't had the opportunity to see Darren live yet and he keeps on doing dates I can't go to.
