MSTRKRFT - Saturday
The weekend is drawing near and I'm beginning to feel as giddy as a Japanese schoolgirl. Toronto electro group MSTRKRFT will be in town.
A hybrid of rock group DFA 1979 (RIP) & electro pop outfit Girlsarehot, the duo have been remixing indie rock anthems for just over a year: Bloc Party, The Kills, Buck 65, Metric and even our Wolfmother copped a feel. But not to be labelled as 'unartistic', they even released some of their own tracks for a pretty decent LP, The Looks.
Moreover, Saturday's gig is a feast of what's hot in Australian electro: the legendary Midnight Juggernauts, Ajax, Knife Machine aka Valentinos DJ's and Sydney group Soft Tigers who I know next to nothing about other than that their song Mr Ice Cream Introduces was one of my favourite party tracks of last year.
Surprisingly, tix are still on sale. I highly recommend you grab one. Not even the idea of me and three teenage girls at a slumber party would keep me at home for this one.

So how was it?
Awesome night Dan... MSTRKRFT were great although they played more of their electro stuff rather than their remixes with they became popular for.
Midnight Juggernauts clearly the highlight. It's the first time I've seen them... blew me away. I'm not sure whether it was the crowd which had them pumped or that they always played like that but either or, they're going to take London by storm.
