The Saturday shambles
Sydney, Australia
So a few sandwiches made it to the Modular Christmas party last night. Apart from every stunning girl in Sydney making it down, there was also an assortment of tosspots, tossbags and tossed salads in the mix. If I see one more button-down v-neck tshirt with dog tags I may make vomitus in my shoe. It was fun pointing and laughing at the many fashion victims, but then seeing as I spent the last hour of the night in a pair of 3D glasses I dont really have a fucking leg to stand on.
As a whole the night went well. The Ghosts and Van She went on early and did well, but the highlight was undoubtedly New Young Pony Club, who played a frenetic set that pretty much blew my mind. The Klaxons on the other hand didn't do much for me at all. Crowd response was great, but when every bad haircut is dialling out of their mind, its not necessarily the best indicator. Don't believe the hype.
We've posted every band that played last night a billion times already, so instead here's some of my favourite random tunes at the mo:
Midlake - Roscoe.mp3
Texans playing at the Gaelic Club next week! $40
Myspace
Califone - Spiders House.mp3
I just fucking love this song
Myspace
Swan Lake - All Fires.mp3
Destroyer's Dan Bejar, Wolf Parade/Sunset Rubdown's Spencer Krug, and Frog Eyes' Carey Mercer.
Fionn Regan - Put a Penny in the Slot.mp3
Buy yourself a Laneway ticket people!
Myspace
Labels: The Ghosts, Van She

i was at the modular/ksubi shindig and i agree with you there...the ratio of hot to not females was 9 hots to every not and it was great
klaxons were quite average...i still cant understand the hype. but nypc really owned the night i thought, their frontwoman is tremendous and they sound far better live than on record

Pretty sure Modular would not have allowed me in.
And yeah...the Klaxons...i've heard one song and thought it was crap. But all the eed-up hipster kids will like them so they won't be going away anytime soon.

Ahhh Midlake. NY's Cassettes Won't Listen have done the most amazing remixes of Roscoe and Young Bride, if anyone gets a chance to check them out.
CWL played at the CMJ marathon, along with Every Other Band In The World. Really glad I timed my trip to New York so I missed out on all that crap. *insert sarcastic look here*
In any case, next time I post here it'll be from somewhere Very Exciting.
