The Rocketsmiths
Brisbane, Australia
Richie from Cuthbert & The Nightwalkers mentioned The Rocketsmiths to me over myspace this morning. I am completely addicted and gobsmacked that I haven't heard of them before. Catchy indie rock songs lying somewhere between country, rock and pop. It appears they're quite the popular band in Brissie having supported the local shows of We Are Scientists, The Presidents of the USA and fellow Brisbane indie rockers, The Boat People. I'm hoping to catch them on the 8th of February when they're scheduled to come down to Sydney but they are yet to book a venue (hint hint). Anyway, check out these little numbers. 'Worth it' is an excellent track.
MP3: The Rocketsmiths - Worth It (highly recommended)
MP3: The Rocketsmiths - Some Time of Mine

By the way, voting for Triple J's Hottest 100 has commenced. You can vote here. And on that note... I know this might be a year late, but did anyone else think that the 2005 Hottest 100 was slightly crapola?
Last year's top 10:
1 Wish You Well - Bernard Fanning
2 Catch My Disease - Ben Lee
3 Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz
4 Best Of You - Foo Fighters
5 Dare - Gorillaz
6 Mind's Eye - Wolfmother
7 My Doorbell - The White Stripes
8 O Yeah - End Of Fashion
9 Joker & The Thief - Wolfmother
10 Do You Want To - Franz Ferdinand
