Vespers say bon voyage!
Sydney, Australia
And before the month was out, one last Sydney band literally dropped the bomb and blew themselves up... into two. Vespers have split (for the time being). For anyone who knows me, you'd understand how upset that's made me. I warm to their sound in a loving, almost gay way. Of course, it's not everyones cup of Amyl but they are, as I said, incredibly appealing to me - an infusion of Dallas Crane and Interpol - two of my favourite bands. As such, I always recommend Vespers to any non-Sydneysider willing to take the plunge into our rich music scene.
On an email send out the other day, they stated it was a temporary split while two members head OS to "pursue rainbows". But Eddie, one of the guitarists, reckons the "goose is cooked" so to speak (no shortage of metaphors here).
Well whatever the case, it's a crying shame. First Pinky, now Vespers. At least there is one last chance to farewell the latter. Vespers are headlining MUM this Friday night and it's certainly not to be missed.
